QUESTION
What is a deposition?
ANSWER
A deposition is a procedure in which you are asked questions, under oath, by the opposing counsel in the presence of a court reporter. The court reporter will ask you to take an oath to swear to tell the truth, which is identical to the oath given to you in court. Thus, you will be subject to the penalties of perjury should you willfully misrepresent (lie) in reference to any question posed to you in a deposition. A member of our office will be present with you throughout the course of your deposition in order to protect your interests.
